Join Healthy Stars for seminar on personal financial planning

Right now is the perfect time to set yourself up for financial success! This Healthy Stars event is open to all employees and students.

Submit your application to participate in StarScapes Student Innovation and Creativity Showcase by April 4

You’re invited to participate in the sixth StarScapes: LCC Student Innovation and Creativity Showcase.

StarScapes is a student showcase of creative, imaginative and interesting work. You have the opportunity to share research, capstone presentations, honors option projects or other work with the LCC community. Presentations include projects produced for LCC classes as well as work developed through students’ own independent study and research. Any student or group of students who pursued a research or creative project is invited to participate.

Presentation options could include:

  • Posters
  • Demonstrations
  • Presentations
  • Performances
  • Readings
  • Electronic presentations
  • Other formats suitable to the work

Each submitted project requires a faculty sponsor. In order to participate, submit a short presentation description at lcc.edu/starscapes. All applications are due April 4.

Join the college community for annual Women’s Literature Read-In

Celebrate the writing of women from all cultures and eras!

The annual Women’s Literature Read-In will be held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. March 26 on the third floor of the Library. Drop in or stay for the entire event to listen to the words of female authors.

If you are interested in reading a selection from your work or that of another women writer, please contact English faculty Teresa Purvis at x1047 or purvist@lcc.edu by Wednesday, March 21. Include a window of available time as well as the title of the work and the author.

Register now for March 17 free self-defense for women class

This program brings women together in an effort increase awareness of protection strategies and to prevent victimization. This fun and informative class is designed to increase confidence and reduce fear. The class will examine and practice simple, effective techniques that can be adapted to the life experience of any woman. Women of all ages, sizes and fitness levels can do these techniques.

Friends and family members are welcome to join the class with you. Daughters or granddaughters should be at least 10 years old and must be accompanied by parent and/or guardian.

When: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 17, with lunch on your own from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Where: LCC West Campus M126 – Fitness Center, 5708 Cornerstone Dr., Lansing, MI

Turn your business idea into $1,000 cash at this year’s Star Tank. You and a partner will have five minutes to impress our panel of judges with your business pitch.
