Summer Stage Under the Stars begins June 21

Performing Arts’ Summer Stage Under the Stars begins June 21 and runs through the end of July. This annual festival features music, theatre and dance at our beautiful outdoor stage and in Dart Auditorium.

Here’s the full schedule:

  • June 21-25: “William Shakespeare’s Land of the Dead,” by John Heimbuch, directed by John Lennox. Fed up with post-apocalyptic zombie shows? Transport yourself backstage the Globe Theatre with William Shakespeare and his acting troupe as they fight the zombie horde taking over Elizabethan London.
  • July 19-23: “Failure: A Love Story,” by Philip Dawkins, directed by Andy Callis. The power of love chimes far greater than any individual’s success or failure in this magical, musical fable. By the end of 1928, all three Fail sisters will be dead, and the same man will have fallen in love with each. Tuneful songs and a whimsical chorus follow the sisters’ story as they live their lives above the family clock repair shop, before their time unexpectedly runs out.
  • July 25-28: DANCE Lansing. The exciting annual event features four nights of new dances, giving audiences an opportunity to appreciate modern and contemporary dance. The collaboration is founded by partners Happendance and LCC Performing Arts and now includes associates Everett High School Dance Program, Fusion Dance Center, Greater Lansing Academy of Dance, MICA Gallery, Michigan State University Department of Theatre, and MSU Orchesis.

All performances are free and begin at 7 p.m. For more information, visit
