Invitation: Open Educational Resources (OER) Summit on September 18

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are teaching and learning resources issued with open licenses that allow users to legally use, revise, remix, and redistribute the content. OERs increase access and remove barriers to education. In addition to the cost savings to students, OERs are a great vehicle for faculty to refocus and reinvigorate their teaching.

Lansing Community College is committed to student success, textbook affordability, and faculty engagement. The OER Summit hosted by the LCC Academic Senate is the first of its kind in Michigan, bringing together prominent national speakers, experts, and advocates of open education. Attendees will learn about the growing OER movement, how OER initiatives have been implemented at community colleges across the country, and how to drive adoption of OERs. An afternoon workshop moderated by experts will guide attendees in finding resources they need relevant to their courses.

Open Educational Resources (OER) Summit

Friday, September 18, 2015 | 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Lansing Community College Downtown Campus

The OER Summit is open to all LCC staff and students. Attendees from other Michigan colleges and universities are also welcome. There is no cost to attend the Summit, but space is limited. For more information and to register, please visit http://lcc.edu/provost/senate/oer-summit.aspx. Thank you.
