Understanding Healthy Relationships Webinar Feb 26

Led by peer advocates from, this session will focus on understanding healthy relationships, the warning signs of dating abuse, and how to help someone who may be experiencing abuse. Peer advocates will also discuss what teens and young adults are experiencing based on their interactions with them through the phone, online chat and text.

Who Should Attend this webinar? Grantees from the following fields are encouraged to attend: adolescent pregnancy prevention, runaway and homeless youth, and domestic violence. Service providers from health, education, welfare and income supports programs, workforce, justice, military, housing, emergency management fields; healthy marriage and responsible fatherhood grantees; Federal and State employees; Stakeholders with an interest in addressing dating abuse and healthy relationships; and the general public.

Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather service in Grand Rapids has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for falling and blowing snow which is in effect From 4 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday.

Hazardous Weather:

* Strong winds will develop late tonight and persist through much of Tuesday. Gusts over 35 mph are expected which will result in considerable drifting and blowing snow.

* Falling snow is expected to result in accumulations of 2 to 4 inches from Ludington to Harrison to 1 to 3 inches for Grand Rapids to Mount Pleasant and generally an inch or less for Lansing and Jackson. Additional snow is possible Tuesday night. The snow will arrive in the Ludington region first by 6 am then build southeast toward Grand Rapids by 11 am. The snow is not likely to start in Lansing or Jackson until the afternoon.

* Wind chill values of 15 degrees below zero are likely around daybreak.


* Snow covered and slick roads…some of which could become impassable in rural open areas.

* Near zero visibilities at times especially north of a Muskegon to Big Rapids line.

* Possible school/event delays or closures.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:

* The Michigan Department of Transportation reminds motorists to adjust speeds based on the conditions and to “Take it slow in ice and snow.”
