Take A Stand! Sit-In!  November 22 and 23, 2021

Inspired by the Scholar Strike Initiative and LCC’s own Take A Stand! Sit-In! events, LCC employees are invited to submit proposals for presentations related to social justice, equity, or race. Presentations that reflect your passion for a subject, engage our LCC community in activities or discussions and promote a greater degree of clarity on a contemporary issue are encouraged.  Take A Stand! Sit-In! offers a platform for others to Sit In if you are willing to Take A Stand.

The event will be virtual on November 22 and 23, with plans to include 10 sessions showcasing the LCC community as well as beginning and ending with featured local artists. This reflects our commitment to incorporating community and creative voices into these learning conversations. If you are unable to participate personally, please consider having your students attend one or more sessions as an assignment or extra credit. The sessions will last 60 to 90 minutes. If you would like more information or have questions, please feel free to reach out to Brad Hicks.

For more information and for the proposal form, go to the Take A Stand! Sit-in! website. The proposal process is not complicated. Submit your proposal with your contact information, session title, and a brief description of the session, short biography, and initial thoughts concerning engaging the audience during your presentation. Proposal submission is due by Friday, September 10th.

Best Regards,

Take A Stand! Sit-In! Organizing Committee

StarCards to streamline Health Screenings for students

Please share this message with your on-campus students. StarCard requests are for students only; we will open employee StarCard requests soon.

To better serve you, we are asking students with face-to-face, on-campus classes to have a StarCard (student ID) to increase Health Screening efficiency. As we experience colder weather, the StarCards will reduce wait times and lines outside the buildings. By simply scanning your card, your completed Health Screening will be verified to enter the building.

How to Get a StarCard

Complete the StarCard Request Form and upload a photo for your new StarCard request (see photo guidelines below). To request a replacement StarCard, you will not need to upload a photo however, there is a $15 fee that will need to be submitted along with your replacement StarCard request.

Stop by LCC Police and Public Safety office to pick up your card. Please allow 5-7 business days for processing and you must show photo identification at pickup (driver’s license, state ID, passport, high school ID or an alternative government-issued ID).

Photo Guidelines

The photo should be passport-style and meet the following requirements:

>>Must be in color, focused, and taken in good light – no dark or shadowed photos

>>Should not be taken outside as direct sunlight causes glare or reflections which we cannot accept

>>Must have a solid white or light-colored plain background, without designs, or patterns

>>Must show a full face, front view of the cardholder, no profiles or angles

>>Top of the head is not cut-off and is clearly visible

>>Must capture the subject’s face, leaving out the upper torso

>>The cardholder must appear in normal street attire (no costumes), without a hat, headwear or no dark glasses (headwear permitted for religious reasons only)

>>Must be that of the cardholder only (no family, friends, animals, objects, etc. are permitted)

>>A smile is acceptable, but silly faces are not permitted
