Call for proposals for Take a Stand! Sit In!

Faculty are invited to submit proposals for presentations on issues related to justice, race or equity for the fall 2021 Take a Stand! Sit In! event. It is inspired by the Scholar Strike Initiative and LCC’s previous Take A Stand! Sit In! events.
Presentations that reflect your passion on a subject, engage our LCC community in activities or discussions, and promote a greater degree of clarity on a contemporary issue are encouraged. Take A Stand! Sit In! offers a platform for others to “sit in” if you are willing to “take a stand.”
This fall’s event will be virtual on Nov. 22-23, with plans to include 10 sessions showcasing the LCC community and featured local artists. This reflects our commitment to incorporating community and creative voices into these learning conversations. If you are unable to participate personally, please consider having your students attend one or more sessions as an assignment or extra credit. The sessions will last 60 to 90 minutes.
For the proposal form, go to the Take A Stand! Sit In! website. The proposal process is designed to be straightforward, and asks for your contact information, short biography, session title, a brief description of your session and initial thoughts about engaging the audience during your presentation. Proposal submissions are due by Friday, Sept. 10.
