New employee directory launches June 26

On Friday, June 26, the existing employee directory will be replaced with a modern, secure system.

You will notice several improvements in this new directory, including:

  • Password is required. You must be logged into the myLCC portal or Self-Service to view the directory. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so. Employees and students will have access to use this directory.
  • More intuitive interface. There is a “Last Name” and “First Name” field in your search criteria. You can also use a “wild card” if you are not sure of spelling. More details can be found in the instructional text at the top of the directory search page.
  • Full work mailing address will display. The directory provides building name, delivery location, city, state and ZIP code. Work phone number and work email address are also displayed.
  • The directory can still be accessed from the myLCC portal, Faculty & Staff webpage and Academic Advising webpage, and can now also be accessed from the Employee tab in Banner Self-Service.

Please remember this directory will display your primary office location for mail delivery. Your actual office or cubical number is not displayed in this directory. If you find your work contact information needs to be updated, please submit an Employee Directory Changes 5Star service request.

This new directory is part of the Banner Self-Service platform. This implementation positions us to take advantage of future enhancements to the Self-Service platform and ensures security standards are met. The previous college directory was a custom application, built decades ago. The application did not keep up with modern technology and contained critical security vulnerabilities. Furthermore, recent phishing attacks on LCC have indicated criminals are using it to conduct reconnaissance on employees. Criminals scan our college directory for names, positions and email addresses to target their phish email attacks. The Michigan State Police Cyber Command Center recommends we limit our employee information on public websites as a protection against phish targeting.

The new directory solves these security weaknesses by requiring users to sign into Banner. That means only those who are connected with the college and have an LCC account will be able to access the directory.
