Scholarship established in honor of President Knight’s mother

As you might know, President Brent Knight lost his mother in April. To honor her memory, the president agreed to have a scholarship created in her name. The scholarship will be awarded for the spring 2020 semester to a student who has lost their parents or experienced foster care.
Esther Knight was born in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1914. She began her education at a one-room school near the family farm in rural Bay County. An orphan at age 11, she graduated from Bay City Central High School at age 16. She graduated from Central Michigan University and then taught elementary school in Essexville for 27 years, retiring in 1981. She had many visits to LCC and loved to walk through campus, seeing the students and talking with everyone she met.
Employees interested in contributing to this scholarship are welcome to donate online anytime through the fall semester.
