As the holiday season rapidly approaches, many of us are seeking meaningful ways to give back to our community and campus. Below are several opportunities to get involved:
LCC Foundation “Heroes Needed” campaign
Be a hero for an LCC student who relies on your gift to pursue their dream, and contribute to our community’s economy and workforce. With your support, we can make access to education possible for everyone. You can even designate your gift to a scholarship or program fund of your choice.
Be a hero during this holiday season by giving the gift of education!
Phi Theta Kappa food and winter clothes drive
PTK will host a food drive to benefit the LCC Stars Helping Stars Pantry, which provides food to LCC students in emergency situations. The drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28 and Thursday, Dec. 1 in the Gannon Building, across from CASE Credit Union.
We will be accepting nonperishable food, personal hygiene products, hats, gloves, scarves and monetary donations. Thank you for your generosity!
City Rescue Mission of Lansing donation drives
HHS and ITS are both sponsoring donation drives to the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, which provides shelter and meals every day to area men, women and children in need. The mission needs new or gently used cold weather gear (including coats, scarves, hats, gloves, socks, slippers and sweatshirts), personal hygiene products, new pillows, underwear and long underwear, diapers and baby wipes, blankets (baby and twin size), paper products, flip-flops, laundry detergent, nonperishable food items, and monetary donations.
You can drop off your donations in either HHS 108 or TLC 100. For more information, contact Marcy Fuhr at x1411 or Brenda Young at x9743.
United Way workplace campaign
LCC is pleased to partner with United Way to support their mission to “Be the One” who makes a difference.
We will offer an open-ended giving option again this year. If you select this option, your gift will automatically renew each year until you change it. Payroll deduction will occur January through December 2017 unless the open-ended giving option is selected.
The campaign begins Nov. 21, and all employees will receive an email with detailed online giving information. The campaign wraps up Dec. 7.
For questions, or to request a paper pledge form, contact Sherry Forrest in Human Resources at x1871 or email@example.com.
American Red Cross campaign
From disasters, heroes emerge. With generosity and compassion, they offer a helping hand in times of crisis. By choosing to support the American Red Cross, you become a hero to those in need.
LCC has a long tradition of supporting the Red Cross by sponsoring blood drives on campus. This year, faculty and staff can also choose to support the Red Cross through financial contributions. Although gifts can be made year-round on the Red Cross website, LCC’s Red Cross campaign will run Nov. 21 through Dec. 7.
Open call for other giving opportunities
If you are involved in other service projects at LCC, please let us know so we can include them here! This year, events and communications coordinator Cristen Mushong is collecting all the details. You can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org or x1521.
Any time you are involved in donations or volunteer work related to LCC, please feel free to use the hashtag #LCCserves on social media. It’s a great opportunity to engage with one another and our community!
