Renegade Theatre Festival to play in Old Town this weekend

The 11th annual Renegade Theatre Festival takes over Old Town Lansing this weekend with dozens of free performances in galleries, storefronts and street corners, featuring LCC students and faculty in many shows!

LCC Theatre student Monica Tanner directs LCC’s entry, THIS IS A PLAY, starring professor Deb Keller. LCC alum Katie Bristol heads the Capital City Improv with current students and theatre alumni. Music instructor Kelly Stuible-Clark leads the Renegade Cabaret. And Dedria Humphries performs with the Experimental Theatre Stage. Plus, there’s special programming for kids and teens on Saturday.

Additionally, LCC’s Jazz Band, led by Jon Gewirtz, will perform at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the city of Lansing’s Jazz & Blues on the Grand series. They’re opening for international jazz/gospel jazz artist Orrick Ewing. The performance is free at the Lansing City Market.

Mason Aviation Day to be held Saturday, Aug. 20

Homebuilt, classic and military aircraft will all be on display at the Mason Aviation Day on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Mason Jewett Airport.

The event is sponsored by Chapter 55 of the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the LCC Aviation Technology program will participate with an open house throughout the day.

The event includes a pancake breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. and a grilled steak lunch from noon-2 p.m. Airplane and helicopter rides will be available, weather permitting.
