One Book #OneLCC is a shared community reading experience that encourages students, faculty, and staff to engage in special events, discussions, and college-wide conversations surrounding a thought provoking common read. Our 2014-2015 title selection is The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
Help us kick-off the first ever LCC community read on Tuesday, September 23 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at various locations across campus:
The Library, 2nd floor, Technology and Learning Center Building
Grab a light snack and learn more about the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, why Rebecca Skloot wrote the book, and explore visual representations of HeLa cells.
The Centre for Engaged Inclusion, StarZone, Gannon Building
Learn more about Henrietta Lacks and issues of diversity, race, and ethics surrounding the themes of the book.
Science Innovation Center, Rm 402, Arts and Sciences Building
Join esteemed cell culture research and history expert Dr. James Trosko, Science Department faculty, and students in exploring the science of cell culture and human cells. View live cell cultures, historical slides, and even your own cells under a microscope!
